Celebrating 30 Years of Excellence

This year marks a remarkable milestone for us. 30 years of Crossway Scaffolding delivering world-class access solutions across the North of England and beyond. From our beginnings in 1996, Crossway has grown from a regional scaffolding contractor into a trusted specialist for complex commercial, industrial, heritage, and infrastructure projects across the UK.

Across three decades, our commitment to safety, innovation and quality has defined who we are. With 85%+ repeat business, the confidence our clients place in us is a testimony to the standards we uphold every day.

Our Journey So Far

Founded to deliver high-quality scaffold services along the M62 corridor, Crossway Scaffolding has continuously evolved, embracing new technologies and building a reputation for responsiveness, integrity and reliable delivery, no matter the scale or complexity of the challenge.

As a member of the National Access & Scaffolding Confederation (NASC), RISQS accredited and holding multiple industry safety certifications, we have always prioritised the wellbeing of our workforce and those around us, a core value that has remained constant throughout our 30 years.

Showcase Projects:

Over the years, we’ve had the privilege to work on exceptional projects across diverse sectors. Below are a few highlights that illustrate our capability, ingenuity and dedication.

1. Trinity Road — Halifax, West Yorkshire

One of our most notable heritage projects, the multi-year refurbishment of a Grade II listed landmark in Halifax town centre. Over two years, we engineered and installed a 20,000 m² exterior scaffold using the Plettac Metrix system, complete with NIKO rail and access walkways designed to support heavy curtain walling replacement works.

This project was recognised with a NASC Project of the Year finalist nod that underscores our technical planning skills and commitment to safety and quality even in highly specialised building environments.

2. India Buildings — Liverpool City Centre

In one of our most challenging city centre jobs to date, the Crossway team delivered complete external scaffolding and intricate lightwell access areas for the refurbishment of India Buildings, a Grade II listed structure.

Despite structural complexities and its historic significance, we innovated effective scaffold solutions, achieving industry recognition with a Best Health & Safety Performance award (2018) from our client, Styles & Wood.

3. Hanover House — Manchester

Delivering scaffolding support for extensive refurbishment at Hanover House, opposite Manchester Victoria Station, required long-term planning and resilience. Over three years, we provided robust external and internal scaffolding systems, including a 3,500 m² temporary roof and internal atrium access works, ensuring ongoing site operations ran smoothly.

4. Central Tunnel — Liverpool Rail Infrastructure

Working over live rail infrastructure demands precision and safety above all. At Central Tunnel, Liverpool, our specialist rail team designed and erected a 60 m long scaffold platform above live track, enabling structural lining works to proceed while maintaining full rail service operations.

To support the extensive commute for our scaffolders, we provided accommodation, a testament to how far we’ll go to support our people and uphold safety on every project.

5. River Nene — Peterborough

Over a sustained 17-month programme on the East Coast Main Line, we delivered scaffold and encapsulation systems for bridge refurbishment works, adapting typical methods by positioning protective wrap inside the scaffold to meet access and safety requirements.
