TRINITY ROAD
A two year refurbishment of the 1974 Grade II listed building in Halifax town centre. Crossway built a 343M perimeter, 20,000 square meter scaffold using the Plettac Metrix System Scaffold. In partnership with TRAD UK we invested over £1,000,000 by purchasing the system for this project alone.
The external scaffold was primarily being used for removal and replacement of the glazing system which was 50 years old. This required the installation of a NIKO rail around the perimeter of the building totalling 350 metres. The NIKO rail was fully designed and tested to support the weight of the glass panels which weighed up to half a tonne each. Part of the design was to incorporate a walkway for traversing the glass once removed onto a scaffold walkway covered with 18mm ply, 2.5 metres wide to the several hoist locations.
Our client requested that a full-time Contract Manager be stationed on-site, which we agreed to given the scale of the project. We appointed Luke Schofield to this role due to his experience in the industry and he has been instrumental in ensuring the project’s smooth operation and successful delivery.
The scaffold was wrapped with 2.2M FR Powerclad Sheeting supplied by Industrial Textiles & Plastics Limited. We used 2.2M to ensure there are no gaps for weather resistance. Shielding work areas from wind, rain, and debris ensures a safer working environment. The roof of the scaffold was encapsulated with FR Shrinkwrap, 4M wide to cover the scaffold width and onto the roof.
