CENTRAL TUNNEL
Crossway's specialist rail knowledge required for complex scaffolding platform required to sit above live rail track.
The project in Central Tunnel, Liverpool was to install a structural concrete lining to an existing brick arch tunnel roof.
The work needed to be completed above a live rail track so that rail services could be maintained throughout the period of works.
Crossway's solution was to erect a platform for the full length of the tunnel, 60M long, built above the track during weekends, and 24 x 3 hour possessions. Beams were also installed using fast curing resin anchors in sandstone sidewalls.
As the project location was a 70-mile round trip each day, we went above and beyond by providing our scaffolders with accommodation in nearby hotels at our expense every Wednesday, ensuring they had a break from the long commute. These solutions demonstrated our team's commitment to safety, as well as our willingness to go the extra mile to ensure the comfort and well-being of our employees.
